About Renee

One of the things that first struck me when watching Mad Men back in the early 2000s was the return of women’s names that had long ago stopped seeming fashionable: Betty. Sally. Joan, Sylvia, Trudy.

It was only a matter of time until one day Joan casually called out to a secretary, “Renee,” and I knew that was it for me. I, too, had a dated name.

For me, this blog is an undertaking of a number of things: Returning to a television show I loved at the time; reconsidering it in light of where we are now (I’m a Bakhtinian); and writing through a text to better understand it.

I’m an academic with an interest in social media, and I always enjoy seeing where projects like these go.

Thank you for joining me on this journey —

Renee
